Growing up in Southern California in the ‘90s, car culture was everywhere. From lowriders to 5.0 Mustangs and nostalgic ‘90s Euros, I was surrounded by automotive artistry. One of my earliest memories was a monthly lowrider show at a swap meet near my home in San Diego’s Oak Park neighborhood. Seeing those chrome-drenched, perfectly polished cars posed under the sun was mesmerizing as a kid. I also remember spotting an E36 BMW for the first timeand being captivated by its sharp body lines. Add in a neighbor’s Datsun 510, and you can see how my young mind was shaped by all flavors of car culture.
More Than a Car—A Lifestyle
The freedom of driving has always meant everything to me. It’s about moving at your own pace, in your own style, with your own vibe. Over the years, I’ve built lifelong friendships through car clubs and meets, including the Cars & Caffeine event I’ve organized, which has brought people together in unexpected ways. I’ve seen relationships formed, friendships built, and even estranged family members reconnect—all because of a shared love for cars.
Beyond the social side, I’ve always been hands-on. I’ve painted, polished, rebuilt engines, swapped transmissions, and programmed electronics, learning every step of the way. My motto? “You can’t be afraid to try shit.”
The Birth of Gray’s Auto Care
I’ve always loved discovering a detailing product that actually does what it promises. The car care world is full of products that sound great on the label but fail in real-world use. After trying countless detailing products, I developed an eye for what works—and what’s just marketing hype. With my background in sales and entrepreneurship, I wanted to build a brand that truly aligned with my passion for cars.
When the idea for Gray’s Auto Care hit, it just clicked. I saw an opportunity to create a consistent, high-quality product line for enthusiasts who want real results—not gimmicks. I wasn’t just launching a product; I was solving a problem for fellow car lovers.
From Mortgage & Real Estate to Car Care
Sales skills can take you anywhere. The ability to break down and explain the technical benefits of a product is crucial in any business. My background in mortgage and real estate gave me the confidence to build something from the ground up. While balance is never easy, it’s much easier to make time for something you’re passionate about.
Testing, Tweaking, and More Testing
During the development phase, my Mini Cooper became the ultimate test subject. My neighbors would joke, “You’re gonna wash the paint off that thing!” after seeing me wash and wipe it over and over. But I was determined to get the chemistry just right. The formulas had to be effective, easy to use, and deliver ‘Wow!’ results.
We’re still refining and improving every product. As the brand grows, I’m excited about the resources we’ll gain to enhance the lineup even further.

Advice for Anyone Looking to Start Their Own Product Line
Just do it. The only thing stopping you is you. I wish I had known sooner how capable I was of building something like this. Seeing an idea go from a concept in your head to a real business is an indescribable satisfaction.
